What is changing
The key changes in the 2026 edition
Quality management
Quality culture and ethical behaviour are explicitly assigned to top management and must be understood by all employees.
Risks and opportunities are identified and addressed separately. Climate change is explicitly included in the context analysis, and the planning of changes has been strengthened.
Environmental management
Environmental conditions such as climate, pollution, resource availability, biodiversity and ecosystems must be explicitly considered in the context analysis.
The life cycle perspective has been strengthened, planning of changes is a new requirement, and internal audits must have defined audit objectives.
Same structure, sharper requirements
The familiar harmonized structure with clauses 4 to 10 remains unchanged. Organisations with a well-established system do not need to start over – only targeted additions are required.
Documents, processes and evidence from the 2015 edition remain largely valid.

What happens if you wait
Your certificate becomes invalid
Once the transition period expires, a certificate issued under the 2015 edition is no longer valid – even if the stated validity period would otherwise extend further.
Bottleneck shortly before the deadline
Experience shows that many organisations attempt to transition in the final months. Auditor capacity becomes scarce and appointments are pushed back.
Nonconformities in your next audit

Transition audit
You choose: combined with your next surveillance audit or recertification audit, or as a separate delta audit.
New certificate
Once the audit is passed, you receive your certificate under the 2026 edition – publicly verifiable in the register at eucerta.org.
Pricing
Fixed price for the transition
Transition for one standard (ISO 9001:2026 or ISO 14001:2026): 800 € net, one-time. Both standards together: 1 200 € net. In Switzerland, the same amounts apply in CHF.
The price includes the delta questionnaire, the carry-over of your existing content and the transition audit. New customers start directly with the 2026 edition – at the standard price.

Frequently asked questions about the transition
Yes. It remains valid until the end of its validity period, but no later than the end of the transition period. After that, only certificates under the 2026 edition are valid.
No. The structure of the standards remains the same. You add the new and changed requirements – we carry over your existing content automatically.
That is your decision: combined with your next surveillance audit or recertification audit, or as a separate delta audit if you wish to transition sooner.
Yes. For transitions within the current cycle, the certificate number and validity period are retained. If the transition takes place together with recertification, a new three-year cycle begins.
New certifications are issued directly under ISO 9001:2026 or ISO 14001:2026. A transition is therefore not required.
